1. Introduction

At The Last Caretaker Tools ("TLC Tools", "we", "our", or "this service"), we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our planning tools and calculators.

✓ Privacy-First Approach

TLC Tools is designed with privacy as a core principle. All your planning data stays on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data to any servers.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Data You Provide

When you use our planning tools, you may input the following information:

  • Power Calculator: Power module counts, device usage, custom load values, saved presets
  • Skill Planner: Unlocked skills, SP allocation preferences
  • Resource Planner: Crafting goals, material inventory, component overrides

✓ All this data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. It never leaves your device.

2.2 Automatically Collected Data

Like most websites, we may automatically collect certain technical information:

  • Usage Analytics: If analytics are enabled (e.g., Vercel Analytics), we may collect aggregated, anonymized data such as page views, session duration, and referral sources
  • Error Logs: Crash reports or error logs to help us improve the service (no personal data included)
  • Browser Information: Browser type, device type, screen resolution (for responsive design optimization)

Note: We do NOT collect IP addresses, precise geolocation, or any personally identifiable information (PII).

2.3 Cookies

TLC Tools uses minimal cookies:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for the website to function (e.g., session management by Next.js framework)
  • Analytics Cookies: If enabled, used to understand how users interact with the site (you can opt out in Cookie Settings)

We do NOT use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party marketing cookies.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Local Calculations: Power requirements, resource planning, skill point budgets are calculated in your browser using your input data
  • Saving Your Progress: localStorage keeps your inputs so you don't lose work when refreshing the page
  • Service Improvement: Aggregated analytics (if enabled) help us understand which features are popular and where users encounter issues

We do NOT:

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Use your data for advertising or marketing
  • Share your data with anyone (it stays on your device)
  • Profile or track you across websites

4. Data Storage & Security

4.1 Local Storage

All planning data is stored in your browser's localStorage. This means:

  • Data persists until you clear your browser cache or localStorage
  • Data is only accessible on the device and browser where you created it
  • If you use a different device or browser, your saved data will not be available

4.2 No Server-Side Storage

TLC Tools is a static website hosted on Vercel. We do not operate backend servers that store user data. All calculations happen client-side (in your browser).

4.3 Security Measures

While your data stays local, we implement standard web security practices:

  • HTTPS encryption for all page loads
  • Content Security Policy (CSP) to prevent XSS attacks
  • No user accounts = no password breaches

5. Third-Party Services

TLC Tools may use the following third-party services:

  • Vercel (Hosting): Our website is hosted on Vercel. They may collect anonymized analytics (page views, response times). See Vercel Privacy Policy ↗
  • Cloudflare (CDN): Assets may be served via CDN for faster load times. Cloudflare may log requests. See Cloudflare Privacy Policy ↗

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other invasive tracking tools.

6. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR/CCPA)

Even though we don't collect personal data, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: You can view all your locally stored data by opening your browser's Developer Tools → Application → Local Storage
  • Right to Delete: You can delete all stored data by:
    • Clearing your browser's localStorage
    • Using the "Reset All" buttons in our tools
    • Clearing browser cache and site data
  • Right to Opt-Out: You can disable analytics cookies in Cookie Settings
  • Right to Portability: Since data is stored in standard localStorage format, you can export it manually if needed

7. Children's Privacy

TLC Tools is designed for players of The Last Caretaker, which is rated for ages 13+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please use this service with parental supervision.

8. Data Retention

Local Data: Your planning data is retained in localStorage until you manually delete it or clear your browser data. We have no control over how long your browser retains localStorage data.

Analytics Data: If we collect anonymized analytics, it is retained for 90 days maximum, then automatically deleted.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

If we make material changes, we will notify users by adding a prominent notice on the homepage.
